Abbie's Crawfish Pie
(Watch Abbie prepare this dish)
1/4 cup chopped onions
1/4
cup chopped green onions
1/4 cup chopped bell peppers
1/4 cup chopped celery
1 stick butter
1/2 cup whipping (heavy) cream
Double pie crust
Flour or cornstarch to thicken
1 1/2 -
2 lbs. of crawfish meat w/fat
Seasonings
Sauté
chopped vegetables in butter until tender.
Add crawfish meat and simmer until meat is done.
Add broth, whipping cream and seasonings.
Simmer for 10 minutes.
Place the first crust in a 9-inch pie pan and bake for 10
minutes, until crust is brown.
Pour crawfish mixture into pie pan.
Place second crust on top of mixture and pinch around
edges. Put four
slits in top of pie and place in oven and bake at 350 degrees
for 20-30 minutes or until crust is brown.
TIP
1: Add chopped
or pressed garlic, if desired.
TIP
2: Suggest
using some or all of the following seasonings:
Old Bay Seasoning, Slap Ya Mama Cajun Seasoning, lemon
pepper, salt, pepper.
