Coat meat with flour.
Lightly brown meat in Dutch oven or heavy pot
with oil.
Sauté
onion, celery and peppers in oil, about 3-4 minutes.
Add sautéed
vegetables to Dutch oven with meat.
Add enough water to more than cover the meat
and vegetables.
Bring to a boil, then lower to medium-low
heat and cook until meat is tender.
Depending on the grade of beef, cook 1-2 hours.
Add more water if necessary
Add vegetables (mixed vegetables, carrots,
potatoes, tomatoes, okra, corn)
Cook for 10-15 minutes or until vegetables
are done.
TIP:
For a more traditional stew, add only carrots and
potatoes to the cooked stew meat.
TIP:
If desired, other seasonings can be added, such as hot
sauce and Worcestershire sauce.
TIP:
There are no hard rules on what to put in a stew or soup
pot.
