Cut butter into flour until crumbly. Add milk and mix to form a soft dough. Turn out onto a floured surface and roll to about ¼ inch thick. Cut into desired-sized squares, then lightly sprinkle with additional flour, which will help thicken broth. Drop squares into boiling liquid and simmer for about 20-30 minutes.
NOTE: I’m going to try these dumplings in a peach or apple cobbler.
